Heavy rain-snowfall alert issued for Himachal Pradesh; WD to affect region until March 16

Shimla: Rain and snowfall warning has been issued in Himachal Pradesh for the next 72 hours. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), Western Disturbance has become more active since last night. Due to this, there will be snowfall in higher areas and rain in plains and lower areas till March 16.

According to IMD, heavy snowfall may occur in some areas during this period, while heavy rain, thunderstorm and storm have been warned in plains and low altitude areas. There will be snowfall in the high altitude areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kangra, Chamba and Kullu districts.

Rain in these districts

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at many places in Sirmaur, Shimla, Mandi, Solan, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una, Kangra, Chamba and Kullu districts.

Heavy snowfall in these districts tomorrow and day after

Heavy snowfall is expected in Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and higher reaches of Kangra, Chamba and Kullu districts on March 15 and 16. Heavy rain is expected in Kangra, Chamba and Kullu districts. Light to moderate rain is expected in the state’s tourist destinations Manali, Narkanda, Kufri, Solang Valley, Sissu and surrounding areas.

The weather will be clear from March 17

On March 17, the weather will remain bad only in some high altitude areas. The weather will become clear in other areas. There is a possibility of rain and snowfall in most parts of the state from March 18.
