Shimla Police has taken action against the drug mafia Shah Gang. Police arrested 5 smugglers of Shah Gang, one of the biggest syndicates in chitta smuggling, from different places last evening. Police will present them in court today and demand remand.

The arrested henchmen include Puneet Chauhan of Sanjauli, Vinish Sarkaik, Sunil Sharma of Lower Khalini Rohit Chandel, and Umesh of Theog.

On January 16, the police arrested 11 smugglers including the gang leader Sandeep Shah of Kolkata. After this, on January 19, 11 people including Shah’s main associate and Delhi resident Neeraj Kashyap were also arrested. Last week, 8 smugglers were caught. So far 35 accused of Shah Gang have been arrested.

Police investigation has revealed that the kingpin of this gang, Sandeep Shah, was a software engineer, who was smuggling drugs across North India using the dark web and virtual numbers.

The police suspect that about 400 smugglers are associated with this gang in the whole of North India and 200 smugglers in Himachal alone. Shimla police is trying to arrest them. This gang is said to have a big network in Shimla, Rohru, Kotkhai and Theog in Himachal.

The police have found suspicious transactions worth lakhs of rupees in Sandeep Shah’s bank accounts. This gang was working like an organized supply chain through social media platforms and online booking.

Shimla police have frozen 51 bank accounts of the Chitta smuggler Shah gang. In these, the police have found transactions worth crores of rupees.
