From the new academic session, attendance of teachers and students will be taken through mobile app in primary schools of Himachal Pradesh. This system will be strictly implemented from April 1, 2025. As soon as attendance is marked on the app, the entire data will be transferred to the Vidya Samiksha Kendra. Online attendance from class 1 to 8 will keep track of coming and going. Time and location will be updated simultaneously as soon as attendance is marked on the Smart Attendance app.
Last year, this system was started on a trial basis in the primary schools of the state. Now it is being made mandatory from April 1, 2025. In a meeting held in the Directorate of Education on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Education Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, instructions were issued to all the District Deputy Directors in this regard. Departmental officials said that the concerned teachers have been trained for this. A separate app has been created for mobile.
Through the app, teachers will have to register their own attendance before staff login. After that, attendance of all the students of their class will have to be recorded. This will collect real time data of the students. The department will also take disciplinary action against teachers who do not register online attendance. The education department has implemented this system on the orders of the Central Education Ministry. Vidya Samiksha Kendras have been set up in every district.
This online software will have complete details of the students including their names, schools and classes. Based on that, the education department will monitor it. On the other hand, during the meeting, emphasis was laid on adopting digital technology in libraries. The education secretary also called upon the officials to run a special campaign to increase the enrollment of students in schools. The meeting also discussed about merging schools and colleges with low number of students under the Directorate of Higher Education. The meeting also discussed about providing quality education. Many other officials including Director of Higher Education Dr. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma and Director of Primary Education Ashish Kohli were present in the meeting.
