Himachal Cabinet meeting to be held today; Important isseues to discuss

Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will hold a cabinet meeting today. Many important decisions will be taken in this. The Governor’s address will be approved in today’s meeting, as the budget session of the Himachal Assembly is to begin from March 10.

The cabinet may also take a decision on increasing bus fares. Himachal Path Parivahan Nigam has sent a proposal to increase bus fares to the state government. Private bus operators have also been demanding a fare hike for a long time.

HRTC has sent a proposal to the government to increase the minimum bus fare from Rs 5 to Rs 10 and a 20 percent increase in the general fare. The government will decide on this after discussion in the meeting. The bus fare has not been increased in the state for a long time and women are being given a 50 percent discount. Therefore, the cabinet will decide today whether to increase the fare or not before the budget session.

Decision will be taken on rationalization of school-college

At the same time, the education department has also sent a proposal to the government for rationalization of schools and colleges. If the government rationalizes the schools, then 257 schools with less than 25 students may be closed. Similarly, colleges with less than 100 students may be closed.

Discussion on the formation of Directorate of Education

There will also be a discussion in the cabinet today about the reorganization of the Directorate of Education. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu wants that there should be only one directorate for classes 1st to 12th and a separate directorate should be created for colleges. This will also be discussed in the cabinet today.

HRTC may get approval to purchase buses

Himachal Path Parivahan Nigam (HRTC) may get approval to purchase buses in the cabinet meeting today. The matter of purchasing electric buses in the state has been pending for a long time. The government will take a decision on this after discussion in the cabinet today. The cabinet will also take a decision regarding recruitments in various departments.
