CM Sukhu to meet Amit Shah, Seek special relief package for cloudburst-hit Himachal

Shimla, July 14: Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reached Delhi last evening. He will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah today and apprise him about the huge loss of life and property due to cloudburst in Mandi and other areas. Chief Minister Sukhu will demand a special package to compensate for this loss.

So far, private and government property worth Rs 770 crore has been destroyed due to rain in the state. More than 850 houses have been damaged. 98 people have died, while 34 people are still missing even after several days in the flash flood caused by cloudburst. 27 people are missing in Mandi district alone, while 2 workers each are missing in Kangra and Kullu, and 1 worker each is missing in Shimla, Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti.

Many villages were destroyed by the rain

Heavy rains have caused the most damage in Seraj Assembly constituency of Mandi district. Many villages have been destroyed. In view of the heavy damage, there is a need to shift Thunag and Bagshyad to another place. There is no trace of roads in Seraj Assembly constituency. The disaster affected families are looking towards the government. The state government is pinning its hopes on the Centre.

CM will inform Shah about the devastation in these areas

Therefore, Chief Minister Sukhu will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi today and apprise him about the loss of life and property due to cloudburst in Mandi Thunag, Bagshyad, Seraj, Karsog, Dharampur, Kullu, Khaniyara of Dharamshala. CM Sukhu will demand a relief package to overcome this devastation. During his Delhi visit, Chief Minister Sukhu can also meet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and other Union Ministers.

The issue of releasing the budget for the disaster of 2023 can also be raised

During this time, the Chief Minister can also raise the issue of releasing the relief amount for the disaster that occurred in 2023. The Center has approved the release of Rs 2006 crore a few days ago, but Himachal has not yet received its first installment.
