Himachal CM to attend the meeting of NITI Aayog, demand of ban on import of apples from Türkiye

Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will participate in the NITI Aayog meeting to be held today in Delhi under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chief Ministers, Lieutenant Governors, Union Ministers, Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog, members and CEOs of all the states and union territories of the country will participate in this meeting of the 10th Governing Council of NITI Aayog.

This meeting provides a platform for the state governments to discuss the developmental challenges facing the country and to reach a consensus on how the states can become the foundation stone for making India a developed nation. Topics like promoting entrepreneurship, skill development and sustainable employment generation are also discussed in it.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu can also raise many issues in this, such as payment of 4000 crore liabilities with BBMB, increasing revenue deficit grant, and ban on apple import from Turkey. CM Sukhu can submit a memorandum to the Prime Minister regarding these.

CM Sukhu, while talking to the media in Shimla before going to Delhi, said that he will raise the issue of the ban on the import of Turkish apples before the Prime Minister. He has also written a letter to the Prime Minister regarding this.

Himachal’s Rs 5500 crore apple industry has come under crisis due to Turkish apples, because more than one lakh metric tons of apples are being imported from Turkey every year. Due to this, apple growers of Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand are worried.
