Himachal: Drone stations to be built in three districts, technology will be used in agriculture and horticulture sector

Drone technology will be used in the agriculture and horticulture sectors. For this, drone stations will be set up in Hamirpur, Mandi and Kangra districts. New doors of possibilities are opening in the field of information technology in the state. A state government spokesperson said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, the Himachal government has taken the initiative to provide skilled workforce to the country. The state government is promoting innovation in the state.

In view of this, concrete efforts are being made to realize the concept of a holistic drone eco-system. Drone technology plays an important role in areas like agriculture, disaster management, and health. To achieve the goal of the Green Himachal Vision, it is the need of the hour to encourage drone technology in the state.

A work plan is being prepared by the state government to provide drone taxi services to the people during this financial year. This will help in supplying various types of agricultural products, medicines etc. in remote areas of the state. In the year 2024-25, 243 youth of the state have received drone related training from the State Industrial Training Institutes of the state.

Approval has been given to start a new college of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in Rajiv Gandhi Government Engineering College at Nagarota Bagwan in Kangra district, Civil Engineering degree course in Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Engineering and Technology Institute in Pragati Nagar in Shimla district, Diploma course in Computer Science and Engineering AI and Machine Learning in Government Polytechnic Sundar Nagar in Mandi district.

Availability of necessary staff will be ensured to start these courses. There are immense possibilities in the field of AI and Data Science.
