Himachal Pradesh government has made it compulsory to keep dustbins in commercial vehicles. From today, if dustbins are not found in commercial vehicles, a fine of Rs 10,000 will be imposed. Vehicles will be checked at the entry points of the cities. The government has issued instructions to keep two dustbins at every bus stand and taxi stand in Himachal.
Wet garbage will be put in one and dry garbage in the other. It will not be compulsory for private vehicle owners to keep dustbins, but vehicle owners will also not have to throw garbage on the road. If they do so, they will be fined. The transport corporation driver will have to stop the bus at the stoppage and get the dustbin emptied. Inspection will also be done from Wednesday to see whether people are following the rules or not. Action will be taken against those violating the rules. It has also been asked to keep dustbins at tourist places.
Commercials coming to Himachal from other states park their vehicles on the roadside and after cleaning, throw the garbage in the forest or on the roads. This is spreading filth in tourist places. Therefore, the government has made a provision for fines in the Himachal Pradesh Non-Biodegradable Garbage Control Act. There will be dustbins in Himachal Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses as well.
