Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, and Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri conveyed their warm wishes to the people on the occasion of Diwali.
In his message, Governor Shukla highlighted that Diwali, known as the festival of lights, represents joy, the victory of good over evil, and the dispelling of darkness with optimism. He expressed his desire for the festival to bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all in the state, urging residents to celebrate in an eco-friendly way to reduce pollution and protect the environment.
Chief Minister Sukhu also sent his heartfelt Diwali greetings, hoping that the festival brings enlightenment, well-being, and prosperity to the state’s citizens. He encouraged everyone to foster unity and brotherhood during this festive period.
Deputy Chief Minister Agnihotri added his wishes, expressing the hope that Diwali would bring renewed strength, progress, and wealth to Himachal Pradesh. He emphasized the importance of unity and mutual support for societal upliftment.
On the eve of Diwali, Chief Minister Sukhu celebrated the festival with children at Balika and Bal Ashram in Mashobra and Tutikandi, respectively, in Shimla. During his visit, he interacted with the children and shared that the government plans to take them on educational trips to Goa and other locations in the future. He affirmed the government’s commitment to the welfare of orphans, stating that Himachal Pradesh is the first state in India to enact a law adopting orphans as Children of the State. Additionally, he announced a provision of Rs 75,000 to assist with their coaching expenses in education.
Sukhu also instructed the Shimla district administration to establish a digital library at the Balika Ashram in Mashobra.
