To start robotic surgery services in Himachal Pradesh, the state government will soon start the recruitment process of specialist robotic surgeons. This will provide better and high quality medical treatment facilities to the patients in government health institutions.
Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu gave this information while chairing the review meeting of the Health Department. A proposal for recruitment rules for these specialist surgeons will soon be presented before the state cabinet for approval. Apart from performing surgery, specialist doctors will also train other doctors in robotic surgery techniques. This will prepare a team of specialist doctors in the state.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is committed to providing quality health services to the people through public health institutions. Modern technology and medical equipment are being installed in all government medical colleges and other health institutions of the state.
Patients will be provided health facilities similar to AIIMS, Delhi at Atal Institute of Medical Super-Speciality located at Chamiyana and robotic surgery services will start in the institute soon. Also, a robotic surgical system will soon be installed in Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College Tanda.
He also directed the department to initiate the process of installing robotic surgical machines in Medical College Hamirpur and Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla. He stressed the need to fill the vacant posts urgently to further strengthen the health services in Himachal Pradesh.
He said that 100 new medical officers would be recruited in the Directorate of Medical Education and 50 additional nurses would also be appointed in Chamiyana soon. The recruitment process of paramedical staff, technical staff and other supporting personnel is also in progress to strengthen the health care infrastructure of the state.
He said that the state government has increased the monthly honorarium of Operation Theatre Assistants from Rs. 17,820 to Rs. 25,000 and the honorarium of radiographers and X-ray technical staff from Rs. 13,100 to Rs. 25,000.
