Yellow alert for rain in 3 districts of Himachal: 1194 houses collapsed in Mandi, 250 villages in darkness

Shimla, July 11: There is a possibility of light rain in Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts of Himachal Pradesh today (11 July). The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert regarding rain in these districts. The sky may remain cloudy in other districts. There may be light drizzle at some places.

There is a possibility of light rain in Kullu, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts tomorrow and day after. It may rain in most parts of the state on Tuesday. 207 roads are closed in the state due to heavy rains in the past few days. Out of these, 180 roads are blocked for more than 10 days. 134 roads are closed in Mandi district alone.

250 villages are in darkness for one and a half week

More than 250 villages are forced to live in darkness for the last one and a half week due to the shutdown of 132 electricity transformers. Due to heavy rains, more than 800 drinking water schemes have also been washed away in the strong current of the flood. This has disrupted the water supply. At many places, the pump houses used to lift water have been washed away.

91 people died, 34 missing in monsoon

So far 91 people have lost their lives in the rains in the state. Out of these 24 people have lost their lives due to floods, cloudburst and landslides. 34 people are missing. In Mandi district alone 15 people died and 27 people are missing due to cloudburst on the night of 30th June.

Property worth Rs 749 crore destroyed

According to the State Disaster Management, private and government property worth Rs 749 crore has been destroyed due to heavy rains. In Mandi alone, 1198 houses have been damaged. Out of these, 500 houses have been completely destroyed. 203 Gaushalas and 731 Gaushalas have also collapsed due to flash floods.
