The government has come into action mode to break the back of the mafia smuggling chitta and other drugs in Himachal Pradesh. There will be separate STF (Special Task Force) police stations in three districts of the state to investigate NDPS related cases. After preparing the rules, the Home Department has sent the file to the Law Department for approval.

In the first phase, these police stations will be opened in Dharamshala and Parwanoo. Cases related to chitta and other drugs will be investigated in it. These police stations will be opened under the leadership of IG and DIG. Chitta has reached every village in Himachal Pradesh. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has directed the Home Department to take strict action against the smugglers to save the youth from the clutches of drugs.

A large amount of chitta is being smuggled into Himachal Pradesh from other states. Drug smuggling has increased manifold in the last few years. This is the reason why a large number of youth in the state, including Shimla district, have fallen prey to drugs.

However, the police department is continuously arresting drug smugglers and campaigns have been launched at the state and district level, but the masterminds of drug smuggling sitting in other states are still out of the police’s reach. Due to this, this network of drug smuggling in the state is not breaking. Apart from this, the police have also arrested smugglers from Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
