Himachal Pradesh braces for 6 days of rain; Orange alert issued for 9 districts

Shimla, July 20: Many parts of Himachal Pradesh, including Mandi, received rain late at night. Intermittent rain continues in many parts including Shimla. The Meteorological Department has predicted continuous rain in the state for the next 6 days. During this time, IMD has appealed to people to be cautious.

Today, yellow alert in 3 districts, tomorrow orange alert in 9 districts

IMD has predicted that there is a possibility of rain in 3 districts of the state today. For which a yellow alert has been issued for Una, Hamirpur and Mandi. The Meteorological Department has predicted that there may be heavy rain in most parts of the state tomorrow.

For this, the department has issued an orange alert for 9 districts. These include Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur. A yellow alert has been issued in Chamba district.

6 days of continuous rain

According to the weather department forecast, it will rain continuously till July 25. The department estimates that light to moderate rain will occur at many places on July 20, 24 and 25. While the rain will continue in most areas from July 21 to 23. There is a possibility of heavy rain at some places on July 20 and 23. Very heavy rain may occur on July 21 and 22.

7 percent more rain than normal

According to the Meteorological Department, so far this monsoon season, Himachal Pradesh has recorded 7 percent more rain than normal. Mandi has received the highest rainfall of 72 percent of normal. Kullu has recorded 760.7 mm of rain and Sirmaur has recorded 576 mm of rain. Kangra has received 485.2 mm of rain and Hamirpur has received 391.3 mm of rain.
