Himachal Rains Alert: Western Disturbance brings heavy rain warnings in Shimla, Mandi, Sirmaur

Shimla, July 26: Western Disturbance (WD) is becoming active in Himachal Pradesh from today (Saturday). Its effect will be visible for the next five days. In view of the Western Disturbance, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain at one or two places in Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts today. The weather is forecast to remain clear in other districts.

Tomorrow i.e. on 27th July, a yellow alert has been issued for rain in 6 districts namely Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Kullu and Mandi. There is a possibility of rain in Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan and Sirmaur districts on 28th July and in Hamirpur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla districts on 29th July. A yellow alert has been issued in these districts.

1291 houses damaged

Let us tell you that in this monsoon season (20 June 24 July) in the state, there have been incidents of cloudburst at 25 places, landslides at 30 places and flash floods at 42 places. Due to this, government and private property worth Rs 1436 crore has been destroyed.

Due to this, 414 houses were completely razed to the ground and 877 houses were partially damaged. 1139 cow sheds and 297 shops were also reduced to rubble due to heavy rains.

153 people died in monsoon season

153 people have lost their lives in this monsoon season in the state. Out of these, 43 people have died due to cloudburst, flood, landslide and drowning, while 71 people have lost their lives in road accidents.

The state has received 9 percent more rain than normal

So far this monsoon season, there has been 9 percent more rain than normal. Shimla district has received 74 percent more rain than normal. Mandi district has received 72 percent, Bilaspur 29 percent, Hamirpur 41 percent, Sirmaur 35 percent, Solan 21 percent and Una has received 26 percent more rain than normal.
