Shimla: In the last 5 days, Himachal has received twice the rainfall than it received in the last three months. This has caused devastation especially in Kullu district. The state has received around 57 mm rainfall between 26 November and 25 February, while during the last 5 days, 114 mm rainfall has occurred.
There are some cities in the state where rainfall of up to 225 mm was recorded in just two days. During the last 48 hours, Bhuntar in Kullu received the highest rainfall of 225.5 mm and Seobagh received 222.6 mm of rainfall.
According to the Meteorological Department, the normal rainfall in the state would have been 32.5 mm between 22nd and 28th February. But this time, 114.3 mm of rain has occurred.
Similarly, in the last 48 hours, more than 5 feet of snow has fallen in many areas. More than 5 feet of snow has fallen at Rohtang Pass and four and a half feet of snow has fallen at Kothi in Kullu and 4 feet of snow has fallen at Solang Nala. Due to heavy rain and snowfall, 584 roads and more than 2200 electricity transformers have stopped working in the state.
There is no electricity in many areas of Lahaul Spiti, Chamba, Kullu and Kinnaur for more than 72 hours. Due to this people are facing problems.
Western disturbance will remain weak today and tomorrow
After heavy rain and snowfall in the state, the Western Disturbance has weakened on Saturday. Due to this, the weather is forecast to remain clear in most parts of the state today and tomorrow. The weather will remain bad in high altitude areas even today.
Western disturbance will become active again in the state on March 3. Due to this, there are chances of rain and snowfall. The weather will become completely clear across the state on March 5 and 6.
Cold returned to the mountains due to rain and snowfall
After rain and snowfall, cold has returned to the mountains again. The average maximum temperature of the state has dropped by 7.5 degrees below normal. Mandi’s maximum temperature has dropped by the maximum of 14.6 degrees and the maximum temperature has remained at 10.7 degrees.
Manali records maximum temperature of 1.5 degrees
The maximum temperature of Manali has dropped to 1.5 degrees after dropping 11.1 degrees from normal. Similarly, the temperature of other cities has also fallen much below normal.
