Himachal Weather Update: Snowfall likely in higher altitude areas, Una-Hamirpur colder than Shimla

Shimla: There may be rain and snowfall again in 5 districts of Himachal Pradesh today. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), snowfall is forecast in the higher mountains of Kangra, Chamba, Kullu, Lahaul Spiti, and Kinnaur of Himachal. The weather will be clear for the next four days from tomorrow.

Apart from these five districts, the weather will remain clear in other areas today as well. This is expected to provide relief from cold, especially to the plains. Right now it is colder in the plains than in the mountains. The minimum temperature of Shimla is 5 degrees Celsius. At the same time, the minimum temperature of Una, the hottest city in the state, has dropped to 0.0 degrees.

Similarly, the minimum temperature of Palampur has also dropped to 2.5 degrees, Solan 0.8 degrees, Kangra 4.8 degrees, Mandi 2.4 degrees, Bilaspur 2.3 degrees, and Hamirpur 1.2 degrees. After the sun shines for the next three to four days, the people of the state will get relief from the cold.

The minimum temperature of Tabo has dropped to minus 11.3 degrees. The temperature of Hamirpur has fallen the most by 5.7 degrees compared to normal. The temperature of Palampur has fallen by 5.5 degrees, Una by 5 degrees, Mandi by 4.9 degrees, Sundernagar by 4 degrees and Nahan by 4.6 degrees below normal.

There has been light snowfall on the high mountains on 8 and 9 December. But people in most areas have not got relief from drought. In the post-monsoon season in the state, i.e. from 1 October to 10 December, there has been 96 percent less rainfall than normal.

50.4 mm of normal rainfall occurs during this period, but this time only 2.1 mm of clouds have rained. Therefore, the people of the state are still waiting for the rain. But there is no possibility of good rain or snowfall for the next four to five days.
