Himachal weather update: yellow alert issued for 5 districts; Rain, thunderstorm expected today

Shimla, May 20: Five districts of Himachal Pradesh may receive light rain today. The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms along with rain at some places in Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Shimla districts. In these districts, thunderstorms may occur at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometres per hour.

At the same time, the weather will be completely clear in the other seven districts. This will lead to a rise in temperature in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Sirmaur districts. The temperature of 9 cities of the state is already more than 35 degrees Celsius.

Bilaspur recorded the highest temperature of 39.3 degrees and Una recorded 39.2 degrees. There will be a slight rise in the temperature of the plains during the next 72 hours.

Western disturbance will be more active from May 23

According to IMD, the weather will remain clear in most parts of the mountains for the next 72 hours (May 22), but there are chances of light drizzle at some places. Western disturbance will be more active on May 23 and 24. Due to this, there are chances of rain in most parts.

Rainfall in these areas during 24 hours

During the last 24 hours, many parts of the state have received rainfall. Mandi received the maximum rainfall of 16.4 mm, Jot 15.8 mm, Kukumsari 13.2 mm, Chhatradi 12.5 mm, Kangra 12.4 mm, Bharmour 12.0 mm, Sandhaul 10.6 mm, Pooh 10.0 mm, Karsog 9.1 mm, Rampur 8.8 mm, Tisa 8.5 mm, Jogindernagar 8.0 mm, Palampur 7.4 mm, Siyogbag 7.2 mm and Gohar received 7.0 mm rainfall.
