Manali: Alwyn Kanwar of Manali, Himachal Pradesh has been selected for the Alpine World Ski Championship. He will play in the World Championship to be held in Austria from 4 to 16 February. Alwyn Kanwar has been selected for the 11th consecutive World Championship.
Alwyn participated in the World Championship for the first time in the year 2012. This championship is organized by the Federation of International Ski and Snowboard (FISS).
Three women players from Himachal Pradesh, Sandhya Thakur, Aanchal Thakur and Tanuja Thakur were also selected for this championship. But all three have already gone to China to participate in the Asian Winter Games and are part of the Indian Alpine Skiing team. Because of this, Alwyn will be the only player from Himachal in the World Championship who is included in the Indian team.
Alwyn has won bronze medal in Khelo India
Alwyn has displayed his talent in many national and international ski championships. Last year, he won a bronze medal for Himachal in the Khelo India Ski Winter Games. Alwyn is making a significant contribution in promoting skiing in the state.
Born in 1997 in Manali
Originally a resident of Shimla, Alvin Kanwar was born in Manali in 1997. His father Kanwar Singh Kanwar retired from the Mountaineering Institute, Manali as a senior instructor. Along with mountaineering, Alwyn Kanwar, a gold medalist in artificial wall mountaineering, has learned the tricks of skiing from his father since childhood.
