New Delhi: Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi late Thursday evening. The Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to provide special industrial package to Himachal Pradesh.
He said that to ensure balanced regional development, it is the need of the hour that Himachal Pradesh should be provided special industrial package on the lines of Jammu and Kashmir and North-Eastern states.
He also urged to restart the transport subsidy scheme as before for hilly areas like Himachal. The Chief Minister said that the cost of transportation is very high due to difficult geographical conditions in the state.
Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that this would greatly help in promoting industrial production and export. He also urged to provide liberal financial assistance for industrial infrastructure development projects, quality testing laboratories and certification laboratories for export promotion. The Chief Minister urged for release of pending amount of capital subsidy under Industrial Development Scheme (IDS) and early approval of pending cases under IDS.
The Union Minister assured that all the demands and issues of the State Government would be sympathetically considered and all possible assistance would be provided to the State. Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Sunil Sharma, Principal Advisor to Chief Minister Ram Subhag Singh and other senior officers of the State were present in the meeting.
