HRTC pensioners resort to protest as pensions not received, CM Sukhu promised on October 28

Pensioners of Himachal Pradesh Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) protested against the management in Shimla on Tuesday. HRTC management has not been able to pay pensions to hundreds of its employees even on 12 November. Earlier Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu had given instructions to pay pensions by 28 October. After 15 days, pensioners have not received their pensions and thus protest was carried out against the management.

HRTC Pensioner Association President Rajesh Thakur said that 70 employees of the corporation were given pensions last evening whereas 30 percent of the employees are still those who have not received pensions. He accused the Sukhu government of breaking the promise.

He said that the pensioners had decided to protest after getting hurt. They raised slogans against the government and HRTC management in Taradevi, Shimla. The protesters demanded to pay their pension for the month of October as well as pay their liabilities.

President Rajendra Thakur said that this time Diwali of retired employees of HRTC was also dull because they did not have money to celebrate the festival. Due to this, even the retired employees of HRTC could not celebrate Diwali. HRTC has about 8500 pensioners, who are upset due to not getting their pension on time every month.
