The internal conflict between the state headquarters officials and Shimla district police officials in the investigation of the death of Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited Chief Engineer Vimal Negi has now come to the fore. After raising questions on the affidavit filed in the court by the state Director General of Police, Atul Verm,a regarding the case, Shimla SSP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi made several serious allegations in a press conference on Saturday. Sanjeev Gandhi said that I have spent my 25-26 years of honest police career as a penance. If someone questions my honesty and professional integrity, then I would prefer to leave the post of police. Therefore, our SIT will take this case to the court again. We want to secure the investigation that we have done so that Vimal Negi can get justice.
He said that we will file a petition in the High Court in this case and will put the whole truth before the court. We will get justice for Vimal Negi. Sanjeev Gandhi made several serious allegations against the DGP. Gandhi said that when the gas blast took place in Middle Bazaar, the NSG was called in. After some time, the NSG report comes that it was a terrorist attack and RDX was found in it.
Then the DGP writes a letter to the Chief Secretary about me that there is negligence of SP Shimla in this and evidence has been destroyed. But today the report of that investigation has come out, in which it was found that there was no explosive material in it, the explosion was caused by LPG. This raises the question how our top police officers are using the NSG.
Gandhi further said that the Shimla Police had investigated a CID case, but a secret letter of it was stolen and leaked by the personal staff of the Director General of Police. An FIR was registered in this regard. The personal staff of the Director General of Police is involved in this. Its investigation was going on, but they made many efforts to obstruct it. Not only this, the District Shimla Police has received many complaints, in which serious questions have been raised about the conduct of the Director General of Police. A few days ago, a complaint was received that the Director General of Police, while being in the CID, pressurized a junior officer to prepare a report and misled the court.
Gandhi said that during his tenure, a big campaign was launched against chitta smuggling for the last two and a half years. It has come to light that an employee of the DGP’s personal staff has been found involved in a gang named Sanjay Bhuria. Regarding this, permission has been sought from the Sessions Court for further investigation. When the office of the Director General of Police is being run by such persons, then it is the duty and duty of the Superintendent of Police to alert the public about the credibility of such an office keeping in mind justice and procedure and to protect such important investigations from such persons. From time to time letters have been written to the government in this regard by the DGP. Vinay Agarwal has raised questions on the DGP on the matter.
