Dehra, July 26: A truck full of devotees from Haryana overturned in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, this morning (Saturday). One devotee from Haryana died in this, while four devotees were injured. The police have taken the body of the deceased into custody and sent it for postmortem.
According to the police, this accident occurred at Dhaliara on the Chintapurni-Jwalamukhi road this morning. The truck was carrying devotees going for langar seva. A total of 25 devotees from the Odhan area of Sirsa district of Haryana were travelling in the truck.
All of them were going to organise langar at Mata Jwalamukhi temple. The deceased devotee in the accident has been identified as Baldev Singh, son of Balvindra Singh, resident of Odhan, Sirsa.
Jumped out of the truck in panic
It is being said that after the vehicle went out of control, Baldev Singh jumped out of the truck in panic. Due to this, he died on the spot.
The injured have been sent to nearby hospitals for first aid. Some devotees were taken to Chintpurni Civil Hospital. Others have been admitted to Dehra Civil Hospital.
Truck driver Lakhwinder Singh said that he left for Jwalamukhi after visiting Mata Chintapurni at 4 am. During the sharp turns and steep descent of Dhaliara, the brakes of the truck suddenly failed.
Try to hit the milestone to stop it
The driver tried to stop the truck by hitting it against a milestone. But the truck did not stop and overturned into a pile of mud on the side of the road. It was a good thing that the truck did not fall into a deep ditch. Otherwise this accident could have been even more terrible.
Accident due to brake failure
As soon as the information about the incident was received, Dehra police reached the spot and started relief and rescue work. Police has registered a case and started investigation. In the initial investigation, technical fault (brake failure) is being considered the cause of the accident.
