Kol Dam releases water again; Raises Sutlej water level, Heavy rain alerts issued for Himachal

Shimla, July 28: Water was released again from the Kol Dam built on the Sutlej River in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh at 6.30 am today. Due to this, the water level of the river has increased by 4 to 5 meters. The dam management has advised people from Bilaspur to Punjab not to go to the river bank.

After leaving the Kol-Dam, the water of Sutlej enters Ropar (Rupnagar) in Punjab. Beyond Ropar, the Sutlej river flows westward in Punjab, passing through Ludhiana district.

After this, it meets the Beas River near Harike-Pattan and then turns in a southwest direction and flows along the India-Pakistan border. Finally, this river enters Pakistan and joins the Chenab River near Bahawalpur.

Rain alert in 10 districts today

The weather will remain bad in the state for the next 48 hours. During this time, there may be heavy rain in some areas. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in all 10 districts today except Kinnaur and Lahaul Spiti.

There is a forecast of heavy rain in 4 districts Kangra, Mandi, Kullu and Shimla tomorrow. An orange alert for heavy rain has been issued in these four districts. Due to this, incidents like flash floods and landslides can be seen at some places. There is a possibility of light rain in Kullu, Kangra and Mandi districts on July 30. The weather is likely to remain clear in other districts.

Monsoon will weaken from July 31

From July 31, the monsoon will weaken again and the weather will become clear in the entire state. So far in this monsoon season (20 June 27 July), there has been 5 percent more rain than normal. The normal rainfall during this period is 321.2 mm, but this time 335.8 mm of rain has fallen.

Shimla received 67% more rainfall than normal

Shimla has received 67 per cent more rainfall than normal, Mandi 63 per cent, Bilaspur 23 per cent, Hamirpur 32 per cent, Kullu and Sirmaur 30 per cent each, Solan 15 per cent and Una district has received 21 per cent more rainfall than normal.

77% less rain than normal in Lahaul Spiti

Lahaul Spiti has received 77 percent less rainfall than normal, Chamba 37 percent and Kinnaur 17 percent less than normal. After the entry of monsoon in the state, there has been more rainfall in June. In July, there has been 9 percent less rainfall than normal.
