Monsoon pace weakens in Himachal; 87% less rainfall than normal

Shimla: Monsoon can become active in Himachal Pradesh from today. Due to this, rain is forecast in most parts for two days, tomorrow and the day after. There has been light rain in some places in the state during the last one week. In comparison with past, From 9 to 16 July, 87 percent less clouds have rained than normal in Himachal Pradesh.

Generally, 59.7 mm of normal rainfall occurs during this period, but this time during this monsoon season, 8 mm of rain occurred so far. Shimla, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Una and Lahaul Spiti districts have received the least rainfall in state.

Even during the entire monsoon season i.e. till 16 July, 39 percent less clouds have rained than normal. 220.3 mm of normal rainfall occurs during this period, but this time only 133.5 mm of clouds have rained.

Dr. Surendra Pal, Director of Meteorological Center Shimla, said that the monsoon has weakened from the Bay of Bengal itself. Its not raining due to lack of air pressure and the western disturbance not being active.

Temperature up by 2.4 degrees compared to normal

The temperature is rising due to lack of rain in Himachal Pradesh. In many places, the maximum temperature has risen by 6 degrees above normal. The temperature of the ground has reached 37.4 degrees Celsius after a rise of 6 degrees above normal.

As per the prediction made by IMD, it can rain tomorrow and day after as rain alert has been issued for many parts of the state.
