Political upheaval in HP: Three independent MLAs tender resignation, by-polls to be held on 9 seats

Shimla: A big political development took place in Himachal Pradesh on Friday. Today three independent MLAs who voted for the BJP candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections have resigned from the assembly membership. These independent MLAs, who returned to Himachal after about 25 days, have submitted their resignations to the Assembly Secretary in Shimla.

According to the information, independent MLA Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur Sadar, KL Thakur from Nalagarh, and Hoshiar Singh from Dehra have resigned from the assembly membership.

It is also expected that these Independent MLAs now will join the BJP and will contest by-polls from BJP ticket.

All three independents submitted their resignation to the Assembly Secretary in Shimla. During this time, former CM Jairam Thakur was also present with him. All of them had reached Shimla from Delhi on chartered plans.

After tendering resignation, the three independent members of Himachal Pradesh Assembly, including Hoshiar Singh from Dehra Assembly constituency, KL Thakur from Nalagarh Assembly constituency and Ashish Sharma from Hamirpur Assembly constituency, met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Raj Bhavan here today.

By polls on 9 seats?

 Earlier Himachal Pradesh Assembly speaker disqualified 6 MLAs who voted for BJP during Rajya Sabha elections.  EC has announced that by polls for 6 seats will be held along with general elections on June 1. Now today three more MLAs have given resignation which arises question that now By polls will be held on 6 seats or 9 seats on June 1.
