Ragging in Tanda Medical College with junior, senior MBBS student suspended

A case of ragging and assault on a junior has come to light in Himachal Pradesh’s Tanda Medical College, Kangra. After this incident on Holi, the college management took strict action against the accused senior MBBS trainee and suspended him for one and a half years.

Apart from this, a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh has also been imposed on him. The college management has also informed the police about this matter. After this, the Anti Ragging Committee had recommended action after investigating the matter. Now, action has been taken against the trainee.

Tanda Medical College Principal Dr Milap Sharma said that the Anti-Ragging Committee has seriously considered the matter and pronounced punishment so that such cases are not repeated in the future. He said that after the Aman Kachru ragging case in 2008, the administration has taken seriously any misbehavior with juniors at any level. The junior doctor has asked the college management to keep his name confidential, which has been accepted by the institute.

It is alleged that the senior trainee of the 2019 batch attacked the junior trainee of the 2022 batch with a sharp object. When the matter reached the police after a complaint was lodged by the college management, both parties blamed each other. It is reported that a settlement was reached between the two parties at the police station Tanda. Kangra DSP Ankit Sharma confirmed the matter.
