Security beefed up in Himachal after drone attacks in Punjab; Leaves of police, health personnel cancelled

Security arrangements have been beefed up in Himachal Pradesh after Pakistan’s attempt to attack several cities of the country. All security agencies in the state are on alert. Especially the state’s tourist places, Shaktipeeths, hydropower projects and border areas have been put on alert. To strengthen the security system, leaves of personnel associated with police, health department and other emergency services have been cancelled. Big cities of Punjab like Pathankot, Amritsar, Jalandhar and Chandigarh are adjacent to Himachal, while Jammu also shares its border with Himachal.

Due to the possibility of attack, Himachal Police Headquarters has issued instructions to all four ranges of the state to remain alert. DIGs of Shimla Range, Central Range, South Range and North Range have been asked to remain in constant touch with the Police Headquarters and inform about every update.

Instructions have been issued to increase security in the state’s tourist places, especially Kullu-Manali, Dharamshala-McLeodganj, Chamba-Khajjiar and Shimla. The government and administration have appealed to the people to immediately inform about any suspicious person. It is being told that strict vigil is being kept on the suspects coming to the state.

Security has been tightened in sensitive areas. The administration has appealed to the people that if the siren sounds, then people should stay in safe places and follow the instructions issued by the administration. Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister, Naresh Chauhan said that the Chief Minister has instructed the Deputy Commissioner to take appropriate precautionary steps wherever blackout is needed. He said that the Chief Minister has called an emergency meeting on the issue of security on Saturday.
