Shepherd and 10 goats died in an accident in Manali after hit by speeding taxi

A shepherd died in a road accident in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. A speeding taxi hit a herd of sheep and goats and shepherds near Bindu Dhank. One person died on the spot and 10 goats were also killed. Police have registered a case against the taxi driver.

According to the police, a case has been registered on the complaint of Narottam Ram (45), a resident of Tehri in Mandi district. The complainant said that he was taking his sheep and goats from Kandi to Kanyal in Manali along with his three companions Jagat Ram, Hirdu Ram and Mahendra Singh.

This incident happened today (Wednesday) at around 4:30 am, when the shepherds reached the Vran area near Bindu Dhank. Then a speeding taxi coming from Kullu first hit the goats and then crushed Mahendra Singh who was going ahead. Due to this, 37-year-old Mahendra Singh, a resident of Kaldi in Mandi district, died on the spot.

The collision was so severe that 10 goats died on the spot, while two were injured. In the police investigation, the taxi driver has been identified as Lalit Kumar, a resident of Galu village in Mandi district.

The in-charge of Manali police station said that the initial investigation has revealed the driver’s speeding and negligence. Necessary legal action is being taken in the matter.
