Shimla: 5 students ragged by seniors in Navodaya School, accused hostellers suspended

Shimla: 5 students were ragged in Jawahar Navodaya School, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. On July 13, around 11 pm, five students of class 12 went to the room of class 10 students in the hostel and asked them to wash clothes.

Going against the wish when some students of class 10 refused to wash clothes, the senior students started beating them. The victim students also accused the seniors of demanding money.

At 11:24 pm, 2 students ran away from the hostel. After this, a student called his father Surendra Singh from the telephone booth in the school premises and informed him about the entire incident. As soon as his son disconnected the call, Surendra Singh informed the house teacher about it. But the house teacher was on leave.

Surendra Singh informed the school principal Sanjita Shaunik about it at around 11:30 pm. In five minutes, the principal herself reached the hostel and stopped the fight going on between students of both grades. Another student’s father Naresh said that the senior students were asking them to wash clothes. This is why the fight took place.

Meanwhile, Theog SDM Mukesh Sharma said that the 5 guilty students have been expelled from the school for 15 days.
