Skating begins at Asia’s largest rink in Shimla, opened for tourists from across country

Shimla: Skating has been going on for four days in the ice skating rink built during the British period in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla. Right now skating is happening only in the morning. Due to high temperatures during the day, the ice is not able to last in the evening. As the cold increases and more ice freezes in the rink, then skating will be done in both morning and evening sessions.

Let us tell you that an ice skating rink has been built in Shimla’s Lakkar Bazaar since the British period. Skating takes place here from the second week of December for the next three months, in which local as well as domestic and foreign tourists also enjoy skating. Due to the second Saturday holiday, a large number of skaters skated here even today. During this time, tremendous enthusiasm was seen among the skaters.

This is Asia’s only ice skating rink that freezes ice by natural method. Now skating can be done here for the next two to three months by paying a fee of Rs 300. Tourists will also be able to enjoy skating. They will not even need to bring skates with them. The skating club provides them.

Ice is frozen using natural methods in Shimla’s Lakkar Bazaar rink. Here water is poured into the rink in the evening. It freezes in the morning. Skating takes place on it. However, due to cloudy skies and high temperatures, freezing of ice becomes difficult. This causes it to melt, but it freezes quickly in the cold.
