New Delhi: The weather has changed in Himachal Pradesh. Snowfall has started on the high peaks of Shimla district, while it is raining in the lower areas. Due to heavy snowfall in Narkanda, traffic on National Highway-5 has come to a complete halt. The road has become extremely slippery due to the snow on the road, due to which vehicles are not moving forward.
The Transport Department has changed the route of buses going to Shimla keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers due to snowfall. Now buses are reaching Shimla via Sunni and Basantpur. Apart from this, Rampur-Rohru road has also been blocked near Sungri. At the same time, bus services are also being affected in remote areas.
Transport department issued instructions
The Rampur Transport Management has issued instructions to the bus drivers in view of the change in weather. Drivers have been instructed not to park buses in snow bound areas. Buses going on high altitude routes have been instructed to return at night so that the buses do not get stuck in snowfall.
Snowfall proving to be a boon for gardening
According to the Meteorological Department, the phase of snowfall will continue in high altitude areas. While this snowfall is proving to be a boon for farmers and gardening, normal life is getting affected. In case the weather worsens further, the problems of people in rural areas may increase. The Meteorological Department said that as soon as the weather clears, the work of restoring the closed roads will be started.
