Snowfall predicted in higher areas of Himachal, weather to remain clear in plains

Shimla: The weather may change in the higher regions of Himachal Pradesh today. According to the Meteorological Department, Western Disturbance is becoming active from Friday. Its effect can be seen in the higher altitude areas of Kinnaur, Lahaul Spiti, Chamba, Kullu and Kangra.

Before the snowfall, the minimum temperature of Tabo in Lahaul Spiti dropped to minus 11.1 degrees Celsius. The temperature of Keylong has dropped to 3 degrees, Samdo 3.4 and Kukumsari 5.8 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the Western Disturbance is weak. Due to this, there is less chance of good snowfall. But there may be light snowfall in the higher areas for the next four days.

Given the forecast of the Meteorological Department, Lahaul Spiti Police has removed the checkposts from Sarchu and Darcha. These two places have been closed and a check post has been set up in Jispah, where police personnel will be deployed day and night. Actually, due to high altitude, sudden snow falls in Sarchu and Darcha and due to this the high areas are completely cut off from the district headquarters and Kullu. Therefore, by setting up a check post in Jispah, tourists and local people will be prevented from going to the high areas.

On the other hand, there is no possibility of the two-month dry spell breaking in other areas of the state. There is certainly a forecast of snowfall on the high mountains for the next 96 hours. But the plains and medium altitude areas will remain sunny. There is no possibility of good rain or snowfall in these areas for the next two weeks. Shimla is also sunny since this morning.
