Theog Water Scam: Vigilance investigation reveals major irregularities as statements of contractors don’t match

Theog: Major irregularities are coming to light in the ongoing vigilance investigation into the alleged scam of crores of rupees in the supply of water through tankers in Theog of Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. The statements of the contractors and the officials of the Jal Shakti Department are not matching with each other in the vigilance inquiry.

Based on the seized records, the officials, contractors, and local people are being questioned. On Sunday also, a team of vigilance remained in Theog and the statements of the local people were recorded.

The problems of the officials and contractors of the Jal Shakti Department may increase in the scam of water supply through tankers. Vigilance has found much evidence related to irregularities in the investigation of the case.

According to vigilance sources, the contractor and the officials of the Jal Shakti Department are giving different statements. This seems to indicate that there has been a large-scale scam. Vigilance is closely investigating every aspect. The statements of the officials and contractors are being matched with the seized records. A team of vigilance recorded the statements of local people at Rahighat, Devrighat, Bhekhalti and adjoining places of Theog.

A scam of crores took place in the name of water supply in Theog during the summer season last year. More than one crore rupees were paid to the contractor for supplying water through tankers. In the information obtained from RTI, the numbers of scooty and Alto car also came to light in the vehicles used for transporting water. Water supply through tenders was shown even at many such places where there is no road.
