Those who can afford should not take subsidy: Govt to urge people to give up electricity subsidy voluntarily

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government is preparing to take some important decisions regarding free electricity and the subsidy given on it. The state government will appeal to the public that those who can spend money should voluntarily give up their subsidy. The government provides free electricity up to 125 units and a subsidy on it.

With such an appeal, the government will move forward in the matter of electricity subsidy. However, the decision has not been implemented yet. The government will first know the views of every section and then take final decision on it.

On Wednesday, October 23, a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee was held, which was chaired by Technical Education and Town Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani. In this meeting, a decision was taken to reduce the supply cost of the Electricity Board. The board felt the need to abolish posts where there is no need and deploy them in offices.

The board said that the electricity purchased from the grid is cheap, but the electricity supplied costs more. There is a great need to reduce that cost. He said that industries can be given cheaper electricity here, but there is a need to improve it.

Also, the State Electricity Board has not yet implemented the old pension scheme, although the Chief Minister has issued an order regarding it. The Cabinet Sub-Committee has discussed this matter and in a conversation with the employees, a proposal has been sought from them. They have also been told that information has been sought from the employees on where the resources will come from for this.
