Independent MLA called by the Assembly Speaker, not reach office

Himachal Pradesh : The three independent MLAs did not reach to office even when after being called by Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania.

On this, the petition to take action against him under anti-defection law could not be heard. On this Pathania said that now this matter will be taken up for final hearing and order. Its date will be decided in late May or early June. Speaking informally inform to reporters at the state assembly complex, Pathania said that the three independent MLAs gave resignation on March 22.

It is their prerogative to investigate even if they have resigned voluntarily.

Six Congress MLAs and three independents voted in favor of the BJP for the post of Rajya Sabha member. His behaviour showed that he was under some kind of pressure. He said that investigation in this regard was justified. In the test conducted here, he also admitted that he had joined BJP before his resignation was accepted. At the same time, on their resignations in the High Court, both the judges have also accepted that it is the Speaker’s right to accept or reject it.
