Shimla: The henchmen of Lawrence Bishnoi have become active in Himachal Pradesh. To uncover a kidnapping racket in the Una district, the Una police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) brought Rajeev Kaushal, a gangster from Una currently imprisoned in a Punjab jail, to Una. Gangster Rajeev Kaushal is reportedly the leader of the Bishnoi gang. On Wednesday morning, based on Kaushal’s information, the SIT raided two locations in Ghaliwal and Bathri in Una.
According to sources, after bringing gangster Rajeev Kaushal to Una, the SIT raided a house in Ghaliwal owned by Dhillu, where they seized cash amounting to two lakh and over 3.5 grams of opium. Additionally, the SIT carried out a raid at the home of a person in Bathri linked to the gangster. It is reported that the SIT’s actions are still ongoing, and there may be significant revelations in the kidnapping case by evening. The investigation into the kidnapping case was entrusted to the SIT, led by ASP Una Sanjeev Bhatia, with a team of seven members.
Notably, a shooter recently arrested by the Punjab police confessed during interrogation that he had come to Una to murder a businessman and had conducted reconnaissance at his home. The shooter also buried a pistol somewhere in Una but was caught by the Punjab police before he could carry out his plan.
The shooter, Manjot Singh, hails from Moranwalia village in Punjab’s Garhshankar and is associated with gangster Ravi Balachauria. Manjot revealed that Balachauria issues orders from jail to Jasakaran, who had instructed Manjot to demand extortion from a businessman in Una, as the gang felt he was taking them lightly and needed to be killed. Following this, he and Jasakaran visited Una twice to scout the businessman’s office and home.
The SIT also brought Manjot Singh to Una for investigation, and they have now brought gangster Rajeev Kaushal from Punjab prison for further inquiries. It’s noteworthy that gangsters in the bordering areas of Himachal Pradesh are collaborating with local criminals to execute kidnapping incidents. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri has also raised the matter of the kidnapping racket with the central government, noting that gangsters serving sentences in Punjab jails are operating extortion gangs in Himachal Pradesh from behind bars.
