Himachal: 45 families will not vote, fake promises not work anymore

Himachal : This year new trend is going on that people are avoiding voting. Villagers have boycotted the Lok Sabha elections in Rakkad Ward-5 of Jalgran Tabba Gram Panchayat, near the district headquarters Una.

The villagers allege that due to the railway line passing through the middle of the village, their own families have been divided into two parts.

The lands of both the sides lie across the line. Due to this, the villagers have to cover a distance of just 150 meters and travel 12 kilometers. The villagers told that for their convenience, a bridge was proposed on this railway line, which has also been surveyed by the Railways, but due to this bridge not being built till date, people are forced to live a life like hell.

According to people, when departments and leaders come to seek votes during elections, they make false promises of building bridges for them.

Avtar Singh, former head of the local Panchayat, said that in Rakkar Ward-5, there are about 40 to 45 families on both sides and more than 200 votes. If these people boycott the elections, there will be a boycott of 200 votes together. These people have been raising their demands with the Railway Department and other leaders for a long time, but they have been getting only assurances during elections.

One has to travel 12 kilometers to reach the fields since people have land across the railway line, they have to go every second-fourth day for crop guarding, care and other agricultural work, so they have to travel 12 kilometers to reach their fields. Now after harvesting the wheat crop, they are facing a lot of problems in getting the produce and straw delivered to their homes. They have to pay the cost of heavy tractor-trolley to apply fertilizer and soil in the fields. These activities costing them too much, sometimes results in loss.

There are about 40-45 families here, who are facing difficulties due to non-construction of the bridge. According to the villagers, they have to go through Una or Kuthar to go from their homes to the fields and from the fields to their homes.
