Vimal Negi Case: ASI suspended for hiding pendrive, departmental inquiry initiated

ASI Pankaj has been suspended for hiding the pen drive found on the body of Power Corporation Chief Engineer Vimal Negi. Along with this, a departmental inquiry has also been initiated against him. SP Shimla has taken this action after finding negligence of the police personnel in the case.

In the affidavit filed by the DGP in the High Court on May 21 in the case of Vimal Negi’s death, questions were also raised on the working style of the SIT of Shimla Police. The DGP had said in the report that the SIT is taking the case towards suicide, and fewer documents have been found from the pen drive on the Pekhubela project of Una.

On the other hand, SP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi personally appeared in the court and said that Vimal Negi had died in Bilaspur, the post-mortem was also done there. This was outside his jurisdiction. This is the reason why Shimla Police could not interfere in the case in any way earlier.

Vimal Negi went missing from Shimla on April 10, and after this, his body was recovered from Gobind Sagar Lake in Bilaspur on April 18. It is being said that during this time, a pen drive was also found near the dead body. Shimla SSP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi said that, along with suspending ASI Pankaj, a departmental inquiry has also been initiated against him.
