Hisar Man Granted Bail in Rape Case Over Marriage Claim

Hisar, Haryana, April 3: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted bail to a man accused in a rape case involving allegations of a relationship established on the false promise of marriage. The accused had been lodged in jail for nearly 29 months before being granted relief.

Allegations in the Case

According to the complaint, the woman alleged that the accused developed a relationship with her and established physical relations on the assurance of marriage. However, when the marriage did not take place, she approached the police, leading to the registration of a rape case against him. Such cases typically require courts to assess whether the consent was obtained through deception or if the relationship was consensual.

Court’s Observation and Bail Decision

While granting bail, the High Court considered the prolonged custody period and the fact that the trial is still pending and may take time. Courts often grant bail in such situations to prevent extended imprisonment without conclusion of trial.

The court clarified that the decision is limited to bail and does not reflect on the merits of the case. The matter will continue in the trial court, where the final verdict will be determined based on evidence.
