Sonipat, Haryana: A fatal road accident has been reported on Purkhas Road in Sonipat, where a bike rider was killed after being hit by a speeding unidentified vehicle in a hit-and-run case.
Victim Was En Route to Attend Wedding
According to the complaint filed by Kunal, the victim Gautam had left home on his motorcycle to attend a wedding. When he reached near the village government school on Purkhas Road, he found a crowd gathered at the spot and later discovered his uncle seriously injured on the road.
Unknown Vehicle Rammed Bike, Driver Fled
Preliminary findings suggest that an unidentified vehicle, being driven at high speed and in a reckless manner, hit the motorcycle with a strong impact. The collision left the bike severely damaged, while the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Victim Declared Dead at Hospital
The injured Gautam was rushed to FIMS Hospital for treatment. However, doctors declared him dead during medical care due to severe injuries.
Police Register Case, Begin Investigation
Following the hospital’s information, police reached the spot and initiated proceedings. Based on the complaint by the deceased’s nephew, a case has been registered at Police Station Sadar, Sonipat under relevant legal provisions.
Authorities have also launched an investigation and assigned an officer to the case.
CCTV Footage Being Examined to Trace Accused
Police teams are now scanning nearby CCTV cameras to identify the offending vehicle and trace the absconding driver. A search operation is underway as the investigation continues.
