There is a lot of anger in the area after a migrant laborer raped and killed a five-year-old child in Hoshiarpur. Angry citizens and social organizations demanded strict punishment for the culprits by holding a protest march and demonstration. On Friday, the Panchayats of Bajwara and Shanti Nagar held a special meeting and passed resolutions against migrant laborers, under which houses or plots in the village will not be given on rent or sale to outsiders.
The resolution passed also claimed that Aadhar card, PAN card, or other identity cards will not be prepared for them.
The Panchayat meeting of village Bajwara was held under the chairmanship of Sarpanch Rajesh Kumar Babbu, in which it was made clear that action will also be taken against any villager who gives a house to migrant laborers or makes them tenants.
The Panchayat has demanded that the administration and the government that a special investigation campaign should be conducted in the district to verify the identity cards of all the migrants, and those who do not have valid documents should be sent back immediately.
The Panchayat said that such incidents are not only spoiling the atmosphere of the society but are also having a negative impact on children.
At the same time, under the leadership of Nihang Singhs, local citizens took out a protest march in the city’s vegetable market. During this time, the market remained completely closed, and vendors from other states did not set up their carts. Nihangs warned that if any outsider misbehaves with any local trader or hawker, they will have to face serious consequences.
