Hrithik Roshan Reacts to ‘Sorry Hrithik’ Trend Amid Kangana Backlash

Mumbai: Actor Hrithik Roshan has responded to the viral ‘We Need to Apologise to Hrithik’ trend on social media, urging people not to jump to conclusions and to wait until the context is driven by facts.

The trend gained momentum amid the ongoing backlash against actor and politician Kangana Ranaut over her recent remarks on Gen Z.

Hrithik Urges People to Wait for Facts

Hrithik reacted in the comments section of a social media post by writer Freddy Birdy, who had referred to the viral trend.

In his comment, Hrithik wrote:

“My friend, siding with ‘A’ just cause you don’t like ‘B’ anymore is a small part of the larger systemic issue plaguing our society. I’ll wait, for when the context to it is the right one, and motivated by facts. That would be fair. I’ll wait. But then again, who cares anymore right?”

His statement appeared to caution social media users against taking sides without considering the complete context.

How the ‘Sorry Hrithik’ Trend Started

The trend began after comedian Saurav Das reacted to criticism from Kangana Ranaut, saying that some of his friends had told him he looked like a younger Hrithik Roshan.

The remark prompted several social media users to revisit the long-running dispute between Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut, leading to the hashtag ‘We Need to Apologise to Hrithik’ gaining traction online.

Revisiting the 2016 Hrithik-Kangana Dispute

The legal dispute between Hrithik Roshan and Kangana Ranaut began in 2016 after Kangana referred to Hrithik as her “silly ex” during a media interaction.

Hrithik denied the claim and publicly stated that the chances of him having an affair with the Pope were higher. He later sent Kangana a legal notice seeking an apology.

Kangana responded with a counter notice, accusing Hrithik of harassment.

According to reports, Hrithik submitted several pieces of evidence, including his passport and electronic devices, during the investigation. Kangana reportedly did not submit her laptop and iPad, stating that they had been damaged by water.

The investigation concluded in 2021 with the submission of a Nil report, citing a lack of evidence.
