Sydney: A shooting in Melbourne, the capital of Victoria, has resulted in one man’s death and two others injured.
Police were alerted to a property in Campbellfield, located 15 km north of Melbourne’s city center, at 10:10 p.m. local time on Friday after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a 60-year-old man with severe, life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
Victoria Police announced on Saturday morning that two men, aged 22 and 20, are currently under police guard in the hospital. These individuals were brought to the hospital with injuries and are expected to be interviewed regarding the shooting. Police believe the incident was targeted and that those involved are known to each other.
Detectives from the homicide squad have set up a crime scene at the location, and investigations are ongoing as more information becomes available.
In a separate incident earlier on December 12, two teenagers were arrested in New South Wales after being linked to a car crash, fire, and shooting in western Sydney. Police reported that they responded to gunfire at a barbershop in Mount Druitt, about 40 kilometers west of Sydney, at approximately 2:20 a.m. local time. Several bullet holes were found in the shop’s window, shortly after two 17-year-olds were arrested near a crashed vehicle in a nearby suburb.
