Netanyahu nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Washington: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, presenting him with the nomination letter during a dinner at the White House. The meeting took place on Monday, a few weeks after Trump declared a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, ending a 12-day escalation that started on June 13.

The White House stated, “President Trump is actively working to achieve peace across various countries and regions. Therefore, I am formally submitting this letter to the Nobel Committee, nominating him for the peace prize, which he truly deserves,” Netanyahu said.

The Israeli leader praised Trump’s efforts toward peace and stability in the Middle East, expressing admiration for his leadership in pursuing peace and security. He told Trump, “I want to acknowledge, not only on behalf of Israelis but also the Jewish community and many around the world, your leadership in advancing peace and security, especially in the Middle East. President Trump has an exceptional team, and together, our efforts create a powerful combination to face challenges and seize opportunities.”

Trump appeared surprised upon receiving the nomination. He responded, “I wasn’t expecting this. Wow, thank you very much. It means a lot coming from you,” he said, expressing his gratitude to Netanyahu.

During the visit, Trump also praised Netanyahu and his wife Sara, referring to them as longtime friends who have shared significant successes. “It’s an honor to host Benjamin and Sara Netanyahu. They are longtime friends, and we’ve achieved great success together. I believe our partnership will lead to even greater accomplishments in the future,” Trump stated.
