PM Modi meets Ukraine President Zelensky in New York, second meeting in 32 days

New York: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the third day of his US visit. This was the second meeting of the two leaders within 32 days. Modi met Zelensky on his Ukraine visit on 23 August.

Modi posted a picture of his meeting with Zelensky in New York on X. He wrote – We are committed to implementing the decisions taken during the Ukraine visit to strengthen bilateral relations.


At the same time, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Modi has told Zelensky that he keeps talking to the leaders of many countries about the Russia-Ukraine war. Everyone believes that a way to ceasefire should be found soon.

Zelensky thanked Prime Minister Modi for his efforts to stop the war. Zelensky also praised Modi’s visit to Ukraine.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Summit of the Future of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Monday night. In a speech of about 4 minutes, PM Modi put India’s stand on the safe future of the world.

He demanded changes in the world’s major institutions from the UN. Modi said, “The success of humanity lies in working together. Not in the battlefield. Changes in global institutions are necessary for world peace.”
