Thailand: 25 students feared dead as school bus engulfs in flames

Bangkok: In a tragic news from Thailand, 25 students died after the school bus caught fire. According to the information received, a total of 44 children were present in the bus, out of which 16 have been admitted to the hospital. At present, rescue workers are trying to evacuate the remaining children. The number of students feared dead is likely to increase in coming time.

The fire brigade and rescue teams reached on the spot as soon as the mishap occured. Officials and rescue workers have given this information. Many people have also sustained burn injuries during the accident, and have been admitted to the nearest hospital. The death toll is expected to increase. No concrete information has yet been revealed about what caused the accident. The teams are trying to ascertain the cause behind the fire which claimed at least 25 lives.

According to the Bangkok Post, this bus was carrying students from a school in Uthai Thani. The Jor Sor 100 traffic radio network reported the bus caught fire on the inbound Phahon Yothin Road near the Zir Rangsit shopping mall at 12.30pm.

Videos posted on social media showed the entire bus engulfed in flames and heavy black smoke billowing out of the bus parked on the road.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra said there were fatalities in this tragic mishap and offered condolences to the victims’ families.
