Trump meets Polish President Duda, commends increase in defence budget

Washington: During the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), U.S. President Donald Trump met with Polish President Andrzej Duda, reinforcing the strong alliance between their nations. Trump commended Duda for Poland’s commitment to increasing its defense spending. The White House shared this information on social media, highlighting the supportive dialogue between the two leaders.

Earlier, Duda discussed his recent conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, emphasizing that lasting peace in Ukraine requires U.S. involvement. He urged Zelenskyy to work closely with the United States, stating, “There is no other way to stop the bloodshed and achieve lasting peace in Ukraine except with the support of the United States.”

Duda expressed confidence in Trump’s commitment to global peace and stability, advising Zelenskyy to maintain a constructive relationship with Trump. He believes that goodwill and honesty are essential for U.S. negotiation strategies.

On the same day, Trump called for an end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, urging both Putin and Zelenskyy to meet and negotiate peace. He stated, “We want to stop the war and stop killing millions of people,” advocating for a ceasefire and a resolution to the conflict, which he noted primarily impacts Europe rather than the U.S.
