UAE says continued Israeli airstrikes to cause broader instability in Gaza

Abu Dhabi: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed concern that ongoing Israeli airstrikes on civilian and residential areas in Gaza could lead to greater instability in the region and heighten the risk of further violence. The UAE Foreign Ministry called for an immediate halt to the escalation and the loss of more innocent lives, emphasizing the need to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza. It also urged the international community to advocate for a renewed ceasefire, the restoration of electricity, the reopening of crossings, and the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.

The UAE reiterated its commitment to supporting global efforts for a peaceful resolution and protecting civilians in the region. These comments were made after Israel launched extensive airstrikes on Gaza early Tuesday, killing over 400 people and breaking a fragile ceasefire established on January 19.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later confirmed that Israel would intensify its offensive on Gaza, stating that “negotiations will take place only under fire.”

Meanwhile, UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher called for a renewed ceasefire and urged Israel to lift the blockade on vital aid and commercial supplies to Gaza. He described the latest airstrikes as a fulfillment of the UN’s worst fears and reported new evacuation orders issued by Israeli forces, leaving Gaza’s residents in extreme fear.
