Cairo: Fresh Iranian missile and drone attacks were reported in Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain on Sunday, further widening the conflict between Iran and the United States and triggering renewed international calls for restraint and diplomacy across the Middle East.

Jordan, Kuwait and Bahrain reported fresh Iranian attacks as renewed US-Iran hostilities spilled into neighbouring countries, prompting calls for de-escalation across the Middle East.
Jordan’s air defenses intercepted three missiles launched from Iran toward Jordanian territory, while a fourth fell in a remote area in southern Jordan without causing casualties or material damage, according to state broadcaster Jordan Radio and Television Corporation.
The missiles were reportedly aimed at US military aircraft stationed in the southern Jordanian coastal city of Aqaba, which borders the Israeli city of Eilat.
Following the incident, Israeli media reported that the US military evacuated refuelling aircraft from Ramon Airport in southern Israel after the missile launches toward Jordan. Commercial passenger flights at the airport were also temporarily delayed.
Earlier, the US Embassy in Amman had issued a security alert stating that Aqaba’s airport and seaport had been evacuated because of a “specific and credible threat.” However, Jordanian authorities later denied the claim, saying both facilities continued to operate normally.
Missiles, drones intercepted; Kuwait infrastructure hit
Kuwait’s Armed Forces said its air defence systems intercepted hostile ballistic missiles and drones over the country. However, another attack struck a power generation and water desalination facility, causing fires and extensive damage.
In a statement, the Kuwaiti military said it had been tracking and engaging incoming missiles and drones since dawn but did not specify the number of projectiles intercepted.
The military accused Iran of targeting civilian and critical infrastructure, stating that facilities operated by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy had been hit.
Bahraini authorities also confirmed that the country’s air defence systems intercepted several Iranian aerial attacks.
Regional leaders call for de-escalation and diplomacy
The latest attacks prompted renewed diplomatic efforts to prevent the conflict from expanding further.
Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy warned that continued escalation could push the region into a dangerous cycle of violence, urging both the United States and Iran to immediately reduce tensions. He cautioned that further military action could worsen economic conditions across the Middle East and beyond.
Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi held separate telephone conversations with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah to discuss the rapidly evolving security situation.
During the discussions, Safadi stressed the need to implement the US-Iran ceasefire agreement, resume diplomatic negotiations and work towards a comprehensive solution to the crisis. He also expressed Jordan’s solidarity with Kuwait and other Gulf Cooperation Council countries affected by the Iranian attacks.
Both sides underlined the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to restore regional stability and prevent further escalation.
The latest developments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where the United States and Iran have exchanged multiple rounds of military strikes. According to the report, the United States has carried out eight waves of strikes on Iranian targets, while Iran has retaliated by targeting US military bases and facilities across the region.
