Tehran: Mojtaba Khamenei, military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, warned on Wednesday that Iran could target American ships if the US attempts to “police” the Strait of Hormuz.
Tough Stance on US Presence
Iran has clearly stated that it will not tolerate the US’s increasing military role in the strategic waterway of Hormuz and will respond strongly.
US Military Blockade
According to reports, the US is preparing to impose a military blockade in the region. This move comes after Iran impacted shipping during the six-week conflict.
Fragile Ceasefire Continues
A two-week ceasefire is currently in place between the two countries, but the situation remains extremely fragile and tensions have not completely subsided.
Global Impact Feared
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most vital oil routes. Any conflict there could have a significant impact on global oil supply and trade.
